Arhar dal/toor dal 1 cup
Water 2.5 cup
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
For tempering:-
Onion (chopped finely) 1 medium
Tomato (chopped finely) 1 medium
Ginger (Chopped finely) 1/4 tea spoon
Green chillies (chopped finely) 1/4 tea spoon
Coriander Leaves (chopped finely) 2 table spoon
Red chilli powder 1/2 tea spoon
Cumin seeds 1/4 tea spoon
Asafoetida 1/4 tea spoon
clarified butter 2 table spoon

Recipe Credit

  1. Soak toor dal for two hours.
  2. Pressure cook toor dal with salt ,turmeric powder and 2.5 cup of water.
  3. After 3 - 4 whistle turn off the flame.
  4. Heat clarified butter in a pan.
  5. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds to crackle.
  6. Add onion and ginger and saute till transparent.
  7. Add tomato,green chilly and red chilly powder and cook for one to two mins.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with chapati.
