Turmeric powder
1/2 tea spoon

Coriander powder
2 tea spoon

Cumin powder
1 tea spoon

Water
as required

Garlic
3-4 clove

Ginger
1 inch

Asafoetida
1/4 tea spoon

Garam masala
1 tea spoon

Bay Leaf
1 pieces

Cashewnuts
7-8 nos

Green Cardamom
3-4 pieces

Dried Fenugreek Leaves/ Kasoori Methi
1 tea spoon

Recipe Credit

  1. Boil potatoes add salt at the time of boiling potatoes.
  2. Peel potatoes and with the help of toothpick make few holes in potatoes so it can be cooked from inside.
  3. Heat oil in the pan and fry peeled potatoes till they become golden brown in color.
  4. Soak cashew nuts for 15 to 20 minutes and make paste of green cardamom,bay leaf and socked cashew nuts by adding little water.
  5. Make paste of onion with mint leaves. Make paste of tomatoes, ginger and garlic.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and add asafoetida .
  7. Add onion and mint paste and saute till the mixture turns pink.
  8. Add ginger and garlic paste and tomato paste and saute till it looks to be properly cooked.
  9. Add paste of cashew nuts,cardamom and bay leaf.
  10. Add chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, cumin seed powder, coriander powder and garam masala and saute for a while and mix all the things well.
  11. Add curd or fresh cream and mix it properly.
  12. Add fried potatoes and 1 cup water and mix it well and carefully so that potatoes are not broken.
  13. Cover the pan with lid on a medium flame for 2 minutes and allow potatoes to absorb gravy.
  14. Add Dried Fenugreek leaves and mix it well.
  15. Garnish with coriander leaves. Dum Aloo are now ready.
