mutton
500 gram

Bengal gram / Chana dal
150 gram

Ginger garlic paste
2 table spoon

Curd
1/2 cup

Red chilli powder
1 tea spoon

Coriander powder
1 tea spoon

Turmeric powder
1/2 tea spoon

Green Chilli
2-3 nos

Water
2 cup

Onion (chopped finely)
2 nos

Cardamom
3-4 pieces

Cloves
4-5 pieces

Cinnamon stick
1 inch

Whole black pepper
3-4 nos

Garam masala
1/2 tea spoon

Oil
1/2 cup

clarified butter
2 table spoon

Salt
to taste

Coriander leaves (chopped)
few

For tempering:-

clarified butter
1 table spoon

Garlic (chopped)
4-5 pod

Whole red chillies
2-3 pieces

Coriander leaves
1 table spoon

Recipe Credit

  1. Boil Bengal gram/chana dal,green chilly salt and 2.5 cup of water in a pressure cooker for 10 mins.
  2. Once cooled, mix with hand blender and keep aside.
  3. Heat 1/2 cup oil and 2 tbsp clarified butter in a pan.
  4. Add cinnamon,cardamom,cloves,whole black pepper to crackle.
  5. Add chopped onion and green chilly and saute till brown.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste and mutton pieces and mix well.
  7. Add turmeric powder,coriander powder,red chilly powder and whisk the curd and add it.
  8. Add salt and hot spices/garam masala powder and mix well.
  9. Add two cup of water and cover it. Cook in a low flame for 25 mins.
  10. Water absorb it and oil leaves the pan.
  11. Add boiled chana dal and one cup of water to make a thick gravy.
  12. Cover it and cook for five mins in a low flame.
  13. Heat one tbsp clarified butter in a pan..
  14. Add whole red chilly and crushed garlic and temper the dal gosht.
  15. Serve hot with rice or chapatis.
